"Pithalmala" one of the best place for trekking

   view of pithalmala

Paithalmala or vithalmala is one of the most beautiful hill station in kannur district.
Which is situated in the western Ghats near kerala-karnataka border. This immaculate
hill station has derived its name from two words in malayalam (pithal and mala)
meaning is infant hill.
Its at a height of 1370m above from sea level. The starting point of  trekking is kudiyanmala
and the target point is about 6km far from the valley. paithalmala is the highest peak in kannur and the hiker have to walk around 4km through dense forest to reach the top.but
the path is not so easy to cover you have to protect your legs using boots or shoes because
a lot of blood sucking leeches are there for attacking you.

pithalmala observatory tower

The highest attraction is the observatory tower made by the tourism department
at the top.The view of valley from the tower is mind-blowing, from there you  can
see half of the area of kannur city and wonderful scenery of coorg forest.it is better
to carry food and a small tent also because night sleep in the top of pithalmala is
awesome because of the cool climate.so its time to pack your bags and head here
for an exciting vacation.

How to reach:
By Bus : 58 km far from kannur and the nearest bus station is pottanplav (several KSRTC
                   buses  running pottanpalav to kannur).
